Could this be the original motherhood statement?

I just survived the lengthy 2007 electoral process, loaded with the last government’s bland platitudes of how good life is for us. I was curious to see that these feel-good speeches were described by various commentators as motherhood statements aimed at engaging support of the electorate with seemingly irrefutable truths.

This led me to reflect on this hijacking of an important, universal condition for political ends. There is nothing new in that!

This work, based on collaged images from a recent visit to Italy, is a response to this process. It uses other motherhood symbolism loaded with its own meaning.
