I captured this moment in a photograph taken at the Friendly Beaches near Coles Bay, and wanted to preserve it in some other form…hence the stitched hanging.

Island life... for my daughter and her friends it is sunshine, holidays, water, beaches, freedom, the ability to take joy in simple things…burying their feet in the sand and watching the water swirl. Three girls on the edge of change…no longer children but still able to play in the water…secure in their freedom…not yet needing to take on the responsibilities of adulthood…their lives unclouded by responsibility. That’s what island life means to them.
