Wendy 5 is one of a suite of portraits that deal with women who work in the arts and who all reside on the West Coast of Tasmania. The women I have painted were born in these places and either continue to live in them or have moved away. The move to Queenstown has made me wonder at the efforts of these women and their contribution and I see how important culture is to the community. It has been important for me to seek out these women who have been instrumental within the dynamics of their community.

Wendy 5 was born in Queenstown and has recently moved to Hobart. The portraits she painted were her relationships to the world around her.
