"Botannica" is a handbag/artwork constructed from textiles drawing inspiration from nature, in particular the wet sclerophyll forest surrounding Fern Tree and the foothills of Mount Wellington. To me, island life seen through women's eyes is being at one with our natural surroundings rather than seeing nature as something which must be overcome.

As island dwellers I think we are encouraged to seek out our natural surroundings for practical means and to employ a more feminine attitude to seeing form and function as well as aesthetic beauty, and incorporating our beautiful surroundings into everyday life.
