Here am I

My name is Heather King; I have lived in Launceston my entire life, and work in the Launceston CBD. I attained my Diploma in Art Craft & Design three years ago and started using colours with pastels, I now love working with acrylics.

My work reflects what I see of myself and other females who live in this city. Always having to achieve so many jobs on any given day, I have used acrylic paints and fabric overlayed onto the canvas together with Impasto medium and pumistone this represents the world I see of what many wonderful women I know who feel that to walk out the door of any day they need to present an image to the world. But what actually is that image, a real one or one that they think the world outside there doors need to see?

Life for me is daring to be who I am and enjoying the good the bad and the ugly. Island Life through women’s eyes for me is many expectations of the world outside our own doors, and daring to be who we are anyway. A many-layered beauty despite what anyone sees, with a common thread intertwining throughout.
