Anna Adams
Island Girl
I was born on this island fifty years ago. Life in Tasmania is rich, full and varied. For me, 'island life', is about living in a very beautiful and safe place. That beauty comes from the natural bush, the wildlife and the landscape.
Through the medium of printmaking I have constructed an image of a woman sheltered by Tasmanian Blue Gum leaves. Above her on the roof of the shelter rests a Shearwater (mutton bird).
This woman represents Tasmanian women; indigenous women and women from other lands. The gum leaves are a symbol of the Tasmanian bush. Whilst the Shearwater represents the unique fauna of Tasmania.
