Island of Ice and Illusion

The magic of being in a world of sea, ice and snow is one of sublime beauty, a surreal place of illusion in a transitory environment, which is subject to rapid change in weather patterns, winter freeze and summer thaw. A place which is wild and inhospitable to human kind but home and habitat to many rare life forms and exotic species happily living on their island homes or thereabouts.

My Island of Ice depicts the beauty of this fragile part of our planet in the Southern Ocean, which is now being threatened by global warming, melting the ice and raising the sea levels disastrously.

The “Island of Life” I have depicted and seen through my eyes, is one of the carefree joy of living and being, as the Adelie penguins play on their island of ice. My heart is with them.
