Seniors Bureau

Montage of older Tasmanians

The Seniors Bureau in the Department's Community Development Division develops policy and strategic plans to promote improved health and wellbeing for older Tasmanians. This involves promoting positive ageing, providing advice on issues that affect the quality of life of older Tasmanians and supporting consultative mechanisms that ensure older people's participation in developing policy.

The work of the Seniors Bureau is guided by the Tasmanian Plan for Positive Ageing - Second Five Year Plan, which recognises that the health and wellbeing of older Tasmanians is determined by a wide range of factors including income, social status, community participation, social support networks, education, employment, social environments, and access to services.
