Supporting Tasmanian Councils

The Office of Children and Youth Affairs works with and supports Tasmanian councils to develop initiatives to meet the needs of young people in their community by:

  • Administering the Innovate. Include. Develop. Local Government Grant Program to support projects that increase young people’s participation in, and connectedness to, their community.
  • Convening the annual Local Government Youth Forum for Council staff working with young people, or interested in issues concerning young people, to promote a shared understanding of youth issues and initiatives through networking and information sharing.
  • Undertaking the Youth Services and Facilities Survey that provides Government with an overview of existing programs, services, and facilities currently provided by Councils for young people in Tasmania.
  • Providing information to and developing resources for councils to encourage youth participation and social inclusion.

The Local Government Association of Tasmania provides a list of all Tasmanian Councils and their websites at www.lgat.tas.gov.au
