The RSMS process

What is the RSMS?

The RSMS is designed to help employers in designated or low growth areas in Australia who are unable to fill a skilled position in their business from the local labour market. Under the RSMS, employers are able to nominate people from overseas or eligible temporary residents already in Australia, to fill vacancies.

How the RSMS can help

The RSMS offers significant advantages for employers. Processing is quick and can avoid labour market testing required in standard Employer Nominated Schemes. Also, employers are able to recruit a skilled employee on contract for a minimum of two years.

How does the RSMS work?

Employers who are considering nominating people under the RSMS may identify suitable nominees in various ways, including:

  • Testing the Australian labour market
  • Personal contact/experience with nominee
  • Recommendation from third parties
  • Through the ‘skill matching’ database.
