Grants program

The 2008-09 Multicultural Tasmania Small Grants Funding Round is open from Tuesday 1 July 2008 until Friday 29 August 2008.

Funding Guidelines

Multicultural Tasmania grants of up to $900 are available for projects that foster cultural diversity and multiculturalism. Any person or organisation that can demonstrate a genuine commitment to encouraging inclusiveness in Tasmania and building the capacity of multicultural communities is eligible to apply.

The following guidelines have been included to assist in preparing your grant applications.

Projects should:

  • provide benefits for and include the broader community;
  • foster respect for and understanding of the rights of people from diverse cultural backgrounds;
  • assist migrants to enjoy an equal share of government services and programs;
  • promote cultural diversity and inclusiveness;
  • have a clearly defined outcome;
  • be completed within a definite time frame;
  • be adequately evaluated to a degree commensurate with the value of the program;
  • take into account regional, gender and age needs on an equitable basis; and
  • demonstrate a significant degree of self-help.

Please note:

  • Grants cannot be provided for capital works or related projects.
  • Request for grants should not exceed $900.
