International Women's Day

International Women's Day logo

International Women’s Day is marked on 8 March every year. It is a major day of global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women.

Each year an amazing array of events is offered throughout Tasmania. Although International Women’s Day falls on 8 March, events are often planned throughout the whole week, giving all women the opportunity to participate in some way. The main themes of these events are the celebration of past achievements and contributions as well as future visions for women. Look to this site in February each year for upcoming events to celebrate International Women’s Day in Tasmania.

The Community Development Division hosts a number of International Women’s Day events around the State, as well as producing a calendar of events to help promote events held by other community organisations.
