Disability BureauThe Tasmanian Government is committed to a comprehensive social justice approach to disability. It recognises that a mostly medical approach to disability will not help to achieve its vision of a Tasmanian society that highly values, and enhances, the full participation of people living with disability. For this reason the Tasmanian Government has adopted a whole-of-government approach to ensure that all government agencies acknowledge and respect the rights of people with disability. The Disability Framework for Action sets out the Tasmanian Government's commitment to achieve socially just policies and practices for Tasmanians with disability. The Government established the Disability Bureau within the Community Development Division of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, in July 2006, to assist in achieving the outcomes of the Disability Framework for Action.
