Tasmanian Government Cards

Tasmanian Government Concession Guide logoThe Tasmanian Government provides two programs to assist seniors and people with a disability. However they are NOT concession cards in the same sense as those issued by the Commonwealth Government.

The Seniors Card is supported by approximately 600 businesses and government services that give discounts to cardholders.

The Tasmanian Companion Card allows people with a lifelong disability to receive a second ticket for their companion carer, free of charge, from participating businesses and organisations.

Tasmanian Seniors Card

Tasmanian Seniors CardThe Tasmanian Seniors Card is a lifestyle card that enables holders to receive discounts from approximately 600 business and government services ranging from transport, electrical, health care, food and drinks through to accommodation, building supplies, clothing, dining and much more.

The Tasmanian Seniors Card is available to Tasmanians who are:

  • aged 60 and over
  • are not in paid employment for more than 20 hours a week
  • residents of Tasmania.

Application forms for Tasmanian Seniors Cards can be downloaded from www.seniors.tas.gov.au or by visiting your nearest Service Tasmania shop.

Recreational game licence Making a will
Entry to Port Arthur Historic Site

Tasmanian Companion Card

Tasmanian Government Companion CardThe Companion Card is a wallet-sized photo ID card for people who, due to their disability, require lifelong attendant care to participate at most community facilities and activities.

The card can be presented when booking or purchasing tickets, or paying an admission fee. Participating businesses and organizations will accept the Companion Card and issue the cardholder with a second ticket for their companion carer at no charge.

The Tasmanian Government acknowledges the support of the Tasmanian businesses and affiliates in ensuring the success of the Companion Card program.

Please note: The Companion Card is not a concession, discount or benefit scheme. It is a tool to assist businesses comply with existing anti-discrimination legislation and ensure that people with a disability who require attendant care have access to fair ticketing practices. The Companion Card is available to Tasmanians who:

  • due to their disability, require lifelong attendant care to participate at community activities and events.
