Premier's message
As Premier, I want to build a Tasmania that is a clever, kind and connected place. Part of being kind is being prepared to lend a hand to people in our community wherever we can. This Concessions Guide sets out the wide range of support available to you and your family from the State Government. This year, we will provide more than $332 million in concessions to Tasmanians. This includes a 70 per cent increase in the electricity concession which we introduced on 1 January this year to ease the impact of electricity price rises. I am also very pleased that the number of people eligible for three major concessions: rates (including fire service contribution); driver licences; and motor vehicle registration has been extended to all Health Care Card holders. While many of the concessions listed in this guide are for low-income earners or people on fixed incomes, a range of concessions extend to the broader community, so I encourage you to take a close look.
